Focus Systems has been supplying bespoke software solutions for over 20 years. Founded at the very outset of the personal computer era, the founder, Valerie Jones, recognised that although office software was becoming more readily available and useable, the growth in processing power of pc’s and the demand of modern business was creating a knowledge and skills void which was preventing most computer users from gaining the maximum benefit from their investment in IT.

To meet this challenge she set up Focus Systems, to supply software development, and later also IT training, to enable businesses and organisations to get the maximum use form their IT systems.

The company has enjoyed year-on-year growth over the last few years, and is now a widely-respected and valued partner to organisations, large and small, with a growing reputation for both the quality of the products supplied and also the extremely high level of after-care service. So much so that, after 20 years, our very first client is still a regular customer!

Some of our key people

Graham Jones – Managing Director

Graham became Managing Director in December 2002, following a long and successful career in the food industry in both technical and commercial roles. His experience in working with businesses from very small to major multi-nationals, and his ability to drive businesses forward has been pivotal to the continued growth of Focus Systems. Through his work with major businesses, and his understanding of business processes and goals, he is able to focus on the key issues within the business and develop plans to achieve the challenging goals the company has set.

Valerie Jones - Technical Director

Valerie’s experience in software development was gained from working with and for a wide range of organisations, from small specialist businesses to major nationals and multi-nationals. Her skills in system analysis and development, her vast knowledge of many languages, coupled with her understanding of business workings and management systems makes her ideally placed to lead the technical team through the development process. Her attention to detail and her desire to deliver full customer satisfaction make her truly stand out from the crowd.

Terry Smith – Development Programmer

As part of the rapidly growing Web based side of the business Terry was recruited as a skilled developer with a broad understanding of a variety of technologies. Having graduated Liverpool John Moores University at the top of his degree class, Terry now excels in good relations with customers whilst being able to deliver quality software.

Danny Coughlan – Sales and Product Development Manager

As part of the continued growth of the business, Danny Coughlan was appointed as Sales and Business Development Manager in April 2008. He has vast experience of working with Blue Chip companies such as Iris Software and Sage UK Ltd (a FTS100 company). He also worked for a start-up business (Rugged Logic) that has gone on to be extremely successful. There he learnt how to introduce and develop a fast-growing product into the market. He has 13 years of sales experience and he has consistently exceeded targets. Danny’s drive to succeed, focus to meet his personal goals and need to be at the top of a competitive market will undoubtedly move Focus Systems forward in the right direction, and further recruitment is planned for 2009.
